In Memory

Judith Anne Dixon (Himes)

Judith Anne (Dixon) HIMES, (Age 69) Judith passed away May 8, 2015 surrounded by family after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She is rejoined in heaven with her husband, Denis, who died just 13 months ago. Judy was born March 2, 1946 in Spokane, WA to Morgan and Mabel Dixon. She grew up in Spokane and graduated from Lewis and Clark High School. In 1964 she married Denis E. Himes. They had two children together. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed taking care of her large yard and loved flowers. You could count on seeing her everyday tending to her immaculate yard, picking up every pine needle and pinecone. She loved bunnies; she had quite a collection, including real bunnies. Judy is survived by her children, Randy (Lynn) Himes of Renton and Christine (Robert) Hyatt of Spokane; granddaughters: Nicole Hyatt and Lauren Himes; one aunt, cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Morgan Dixon, her mother, Mabel Dixon-Fall and her sister Beverly, who died before Judy was born. Please honor Judy by performing a random act of kindness. A special thank you to the employees of Park Place for the many years of good care. A Memorial Service is scheduled Saturday, May.

Judi Dixon and I were in the same classroom every year at Sheridan Elementary, we both attended Libby and were on the Libby Ledger together.  We both went on to LC and although we didn't have many, if any, classes together, we were two of five Libby kids in Spokie's homeroom.  And I saw her  every Sunday in church and Sunday School at Bethany Pres.  She stayed with the church; I did not.  She was always mature and steady for her age, I was much less so.  We were not soulmates in any sense of the word and when I returned to Spokane in 1983 with my wife and sons it never occured to me to get in touch with Judi Dixon.  But when I was searching for Libby alums the other day (we want a good reunion turnout) and came across her obituary in the Spokesman I broke down and cried.  Her smile and elegant humanity will be missed by her old friend Mike Dirks

There was an error in the posting of Judith Anne Dixon's obituary prior to our reuniuon. Another woman (Judith Anne Dixon Snider) closely matched the information and was listed as our Judith. It has been determined that this Judith is the correct one. I regret this mistake. Sue (Tegler) Petersen

I remember Judy from both Libby and LC. She was a very nice person and I am sure will be missed by her family and friends.

I also remember Judy from all our classes at Sheridan.... she and Linda Yuse and I spent many happy times together... Judy and her family always opened their home to me when my little brother was ill and I needed a place to stay... Rest in Peace Judy.
