I remember Michelle mostly from our time together in the shared classrooms experiences in grade school at Wilson. Even though Wilson seemed to mix the classes each year of moving up, Michelle and I seemed to be in the same class most of the time.

She impressed me as happy, bright, pleasant, articulate, and never seemed lost or flustered. She had a system about her.  It was easy for me to make her laugh, which I often did, because I knew I had an audience. I think she had allergies because there was always a Kleenex trail leading to her.

After the 8th grade, I believe she went directly to L.C., where I attended Sacajawea for our respective 9th grade. I didn’t see much of her until we share a few classes our junior and senior year. When we see each other in the hallways of L.C., she would always want to hear a joke.  And that great smile and infectious giggle is what I remember the most of Michelle.

I knew Michelle in our early elementary years when her family lived on my block on 42nd and we were in the same classes at Jefferson. She was so much fun and always so energetic. I remember her raising her hand and getting so excited when the teacher asked a question and she was sure she knew the answer! I also remember that her mom was in Camp Fire and she had tons of the old hand-carved beads which I really coveted! Michelle and I dIdn’t see each other a lot after she moved by Comstock Park, and I missed her!
