I miss Bill to this day!  Have so many memories of growing up in Spokane, and Bill was a part of those memories beginning in grade school.  He used to ride his bike to my house on Rockwood & Overbluff, where he wanted me to teach him how to dance (some of you will recall Charlotte Aires (sp?) dances at Jefferson,) as well as how to smoke cigarettes ~ which we accomplished by swiping my dad's Lucky Strikes and puffing away as we were scrunched inside the big fireplace in our basement rec room!  Later, at LC we were friends and cohorts!  I let him cheat during Chemistry tests, as he had no time to study!?  As a freshman, I ran cross country track (up and around the grounds of the Catholic girls'  school ~ the name of which escapes me at this moment.  Any way, I came in first, beating out Linda Ates.  I was a good foot shorter  than she, as I recall looking over at her thighs, as I passed her!!  The next morning when I entered school via "smoker's corner," Linda and and her friends were waiting for me....one of them said:  "Gokee, NOBODY beats Ates."  The group started closing in, just as Bill arrived sporting his letter jacket, and broke up the mob!  Bill was my hero then and on several occasions later in life!  If he isn't playing polo in heaven, then I'm quite sure he is wrestling the bad guys!
