Lee was one of my best friends ever since we met at Franklin School in the 5th grade.  In the 6th grade his house location was redistricted to Lincoln Heights so we didn’t see much of each other except in the summers when we played baseball together at Lincoln Park with Bob Meyers, Steve Erickson, Fred Keezer, Ron Warrick, and Richard Fowler and against many future LC players from other parks Robbie Neilson, Ken Iverson, Pat Ireland, Steve Pratt, John Albi. Lee was our star pitcher, as he was in high school. After college when he learned to play golf well, we played together a lot.  He and his family moved to Portland from Spokane in the early 80’s.  Still we managed to find time to play golf.  We were always friends although there were sometimes years between visits.  The last time I saw him was at our 30th LC reunion when a big group of us played golf together at Indian Canyon.  On the Monday following I took him to the bus station to go to New Mexico.  I learned just a couple months ago he had died shortly thereafter.  He was a grand friend and in all the years that we didn’t see much of each other, I missed him.

I do remember him as our pitcher in baseball and always was a smiling caring person. He will be missed and thoughts go out to his family.
