In Memory

Larry Ward Neill

Larry Ward Neill

LARRY WARD NEILL went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 18, 2017. Larry was a kind and gentle man. He was a loving son, devoted brother, caring uncle, and a very dear friend to many. Larry lived in Spokane all of his life. After graduating from Lewis and Clark class of 1964, he took a job at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, (now St. Luke's Rehab) in 1965, where he was still currently employed 51+ years later. He loved his work and all he came in contact with through his many years of dedicated service. He considered his coworkers like family. Larry's other passion was his love for animals. It didn't matter what kind of animal it was he considered them all wonderful and special. He was especially fond of cats because he would find comfort and companionship in them as his pet. A special "thank you" is extended to his bus driver (and para- medics) who assisted him on the night of Jan. 18. He appreciated all of the bus drivers through his years of bus riding for their kindness and friendship. Larry Neill was a very special man and if you had the fortune to know him you were very fortunate indeed. Memorial Services for Larry will be held Monday, Jan. 23, at noon in Room 200 at St. Luke's Rehab Institute.

Note: An article appeared in the Spokesman Review in Sept 2015 about Larry's 50th Anniversary of working at St. Lukes Hosp/Rehab.

I remember Larry from grade school and LC.  Absolute, nice guy.  Sorry I never got to reconnect.  The world is a little poorer today, without him.  Rest in peace.

Earlier this week I attended Larry's Memorial at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Hospital. The standing room only crowd of Family, St.Luke's co-workers from top administrators to those providing all aspects of patient care in the hospital and other community members . . . bus driver, restaurant owner and others  . . . with love and affection offered testimony to Larry's GOODNESS while here. Larry, I am sorry for not making time to have that cup of coffee we recently talked about to celebrate your retirement. RIP fellow Tiger.
